1. Give the surface careful preparation. Make sure surfaces are clean, sound, and free of any debris, mildew, and loose or peeling paint before you begin painting. Spot-priming should be applied to any areas that are completely painted, whether they're brand-new or the old paint has completely faded off.

2. Perform your work in favourable weather conditions. Apply exterior coatings on calm days with little to no wind and temperature between 60 and 85 degrees Fahrenheit for the best results.
